Smishing

Smishing is a fraudulent technique that combines SMS (text messaging) and phishing. Attackers use text messages to try to trick people into revealing sensitive information, such as passwords, login credentials, or banking details.

The messages often appear trustworthy—they may look like they’re from a bank, mobile operator, popular store, or even a government institution. They usually include an urgent call to action designed to prompt a quick response, such as clicking a link or replying with personal information.

The goal of these attacks is to steal your private data and misuse it—such as gaining access to your bank account or online profiles.

How can you recognize such messages and protect yourself? Check out our tips on the Cybersecurity page.
